How do we make them?
Sandgroper
boards are hand made using multiple layers of fine selected timbers. Each
board is pressed and carefully crafted into our unique shape. The curing
process for the bonding agents is allowed to run it's full course before
careful inspection determines the boards suitability as a finished
product.
During the
finishing process the boards are hand sprayed with quality varnish to
protect the timber against the abrasive qualities of sand when out on your
favourite run. Once we have completed the multiple coats, each with the
correct drying time [due to temperature and humidity] we can fit the
bindings.
We use quality bindings that will stand up to the rigours of hard riding
yet provide the comfort needed to prevent foot soreness and chaffing.
After
the bindings have been mounted secure and flush to the base of the board,
the final process of securing the base [one of the most critical stages]
occurs. This final process is one of the "little secrets" that makes
our boards unique so we'll not be saying too much about this part! Suffice
to say, it's one of the reasons our boards wear evenly and ride so well...
Due to
our quality control and the processes we undergo to create each board we
are limited to finishing about 2 boards per day. Each board may take as
long as a week to complete.
You can be assured of rigorous standards, quality materials and my
personal belief [and one we should all follow] that if something is worth
doing, it's worth doing properly.
Put simply, Sandgroper sand boards are
not ordinary
boards.
